Solving a crucial challenge for athletes

My role in innovation and development

A fully functional device: key features

Our capstone project introduces a cross-country ski camber device, an apparatus designed to accurately test the camber of any ski for a specific weight. This innovation is crucial for elite cross-country athletes, enabling them to select the perfect ski tailored to their individual weight, directly enhancing their performance on the snow. Collaborating with Trail Sports in Canmore, AB, this product serves as both a powerful marketing tool for our client and a valuable asset for their customers.

My involvement in this project was extensive, particularly in the electrical assembly. I was responsible for meticulously assembling numerous electrical components onto our beam, which involved significant soldering work to ensure robust connections. Furthermore, I contributed to mechanical drawings and played a key role in fulfilling the various deliverables required by the capstone course.

The culmination of our efforts is a fully functional ski camber pressure tester. This sophisticated device is equipped with 120 strain gauge sensors for precise measurements and a linear actuator capable of applying up to 250 lbs of weight to the ski. This robust design ensures accurate and reliable testing, providing athletes with the data they need for optimal ski selection.
